SEPTA (Special Education Parent Teacher Association) provides advocacy, education and support for all exceptional students in the Baldwin Community and School District. Our organization is here not only for students in special education, we are here for any child receiving any service. Some examples - we are here for
- students who receive speech, language, physical or occupational therapy,
- students with medical or allergy issues,
- students with learning or physical disabilities,
- students receiving any type of Academic Intervention Services,
- students who are gifted,
- those who might be facing special issues socially or at home within their families, and
- students receiving no services.
We are here for your child. Your child may not have any special needs whatsoever, but may otherwise benefit from your support and involvement in SEPTA, simply as a member of our united school community.
In addition, SEPTA provides a resource for parents of special needs students through presentations, workshops and the Internet. We aim to improve communication between parents, school staff and administration; be involved in decisions effecting special needs students in the school and community; and educate and sensitize the Baldwin UFSD community to students with special needs.
